Veterans Support Group No cost veteran support group for anyone who has worn a military uniform.
Group topics include Depression, PTSD, Alcoholism, Domestic Violence, and other related topics.
Counseling Services assessments, and one on one or group counseling services for individuals experiencing mental health issues. Counseling services provided by a licensed clinician who is also a veteran.
Valor Training Another Kind of Valor is training offered by Behavioral Health to assist participants in better serving our services members, Veterans and their families.
Participants will receive training that will arm them with knowledge, tools and resources to help anyone who wears or has worn a military uniform. Local service providers are strongly encouraged to participate.

Eleven Facts that may affect Veterans
1.) Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder or PTSD is an anxiety disorder that can occur after experiencing a traumatic event. Emotional trauma can actually cause changes in the brain which may results in PTSD.
2.) It is estimated that 30% or more veterans returning from wars are or will be affected by PTSD
3.) PTSD is a condition recognized by the American Psychiatric Association (APA) and has been documented in soldiers as early as the Civil War.
4.) Symptoms of the disorder may include: fear, anxiety, guilt, avoidance, impatience, irritability, distrust, flashbacks or nightmares.
5.) PTSD often leads to alcohol or drug abuse.
6.) Veterans are at an increased risk for suicide - three to four times the average. As many as 70% of the suicides in American men each year are committed by veterans.
7.) Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) is another unseen injury of war, with an estimated 10% of soldiers returning from war suffering from at least minor TBI.
8.) Blast or explosions are the most common causes of TBI in Iraq and Afghanistan, with an estimated 50-60% of those exposed to a blast suffering from some degree of TBI.
9.) TBI can affect three functional systems of the brain: intellect, emotionality, and behavior control.
10.) Symptoms of TBI include: headaches, dizziness, fatigue, memory/concentration problems, irritability, sleep problems, blanace problems, ringing in the ears and vision change.
11.) Treatment is available for both PTSD and TBI, with the best results being achieved in early intervention.
